Belamcanda chinensis Seed Propagation
Soaking seed for 24 hours prior to sowing may enhance germination.
Indoors: Sow to individual pots, flats or packs of moistened seedling compost 6-8 weeks before last frost. Cover with 1/4″ of soil. Requires darkness to germinate. Maintain 70F soil temperature for irregular germination 21-60 days. Transplant seedlings to 3″ pots when large enough to handle. Grow on for 6 weeks before hardening off for transplanting to permanent position 1′ apart after risk of Spring frost.
Outdoors:Sow ¼” deep in warm soil. Keep the seed bed evenly moist for germination 1-2 weeks. Thin or transplant to required spacing
