Light: Sun or part shade. Morning sun, afternoon (dappled) shade ideal
Soil: Average soil, well drained. Compost rich ideal. Loamy. Dislikes clay

Moisture: Average, moderately moist
Zone: 4-8
Use: Border, container, woodland, mass planting, naturalizing, cutting, accent, rock or alpine. Attracts butterflies & hummingbirds
Tolerances: Will self sow true to type if isolated at least 100 ft from other columbines. Deer & rabbit resistant
Notes: Easy to grow. Deadhead to prolong blooming. Will reseed

Aquilegia caerulea Seed Propagation
Indoors: Cold stratification required. Surface sow in packs or flats 6-8 weeks before last frost. Do not cover. Needs light to germinate in 21-28 days. Maintain 65-60F soil temp
Outdoors: Direct surface sow into prepared seed bed in Fall or early Spring in groups of 3-4 seeds spaced 6-18″ apart. Germination 21-25 days. Thin to strongest plant.
