Type: Clumping, cool season, evergreen
Bloom: Early Summer into Summer, June to Sept
Flower: 3′ tall, light greenish pink turning to tan, airy (to 20″) plumes
Height: 8-12″ tall x 12-23″ wide
Light: Full sun. Partial shade where summer is hot
Soil: Moist, organically rich, well drained
P.H: 5.8-6.5
Moisture: Average to moist, fertile
Zone: 4-9
Use: Borders, container gardening, edging, erosion control, ground cover, mass planting, specimen, woodland. Spring & Fall interest. Deer & rabbit resistant, easy to grow, low maintenance
Tolerances: Air pollution, boggy conditions, light shade, frost, salty soil
Problems: Possible rust in wet seasons
Notes: Slow to medium growth rate. Variegated cream white & green. Cut back in early Spring. Avoid too wet conditions to prevent crown or root rot. Too dry may result in burning & stunted growth

Deschanpsia cespitosa Seed Propagation
Indoors: Late Winter or Autumn, surface sow to moist medium. Just cover. Maintain 70F, keep moist. Germination erratic over 2-4 weeks or longer.
Transplant to 1 gallon in clumps, 6 weeks after germination. Grow on in cooler temperatures. Harden off before transplant after risk of frost
Outdoors: When temperatures are reliably 64-72F Mix with sand & broadcast onto prepared bed. Firm & mulch lightly. Keep evenly moist. Germination 3-5 months
