Echinacea paradoxa Yellow Seed Propagation
Indoors: Cold moist stratification required. Start 6-8 weeks before outdoors night temps are reliably 50F. In a zip lock bag, mix seeds with pre-moistened peat moss or sand. Label & date then store in the fridge for 7-10 days. Sow 1/8″ deep to moistened sterie soil-less seedling mix in pots. Keep moist & maintain 70F soil temperature for germination 15-30 days. When 2″ tall or more, harden off before planting out after danger of frost 1′ apart
Outdoors: Sow seed 1/8″ deep to prepared seed bed in late fall to overwinter for germination in the Spring. Alternatively in late fall through to mid Winter sow as above but to pots positioned outdoors where they can experience the elements of winter for natural stratification, germinating in the Spring, Assure to keep pots slightly moist come Spring
