Notes: Peppers are said to become hotter with less water & fertilizer. Harvest Jalapenos any time, usually while still green as they will turn red for which can be nicely dried or smoked. Hot peppers can burn the skin. Use gloves when handling. Wash hands after and before touching face or eyes

Capsicum annuum Seed Propagation
Indoors: January start for hottest chilies or March. Surface sow onto moist warm medium. Apply fine cover of vermiculite, Use dome or clear plastic & place on heat mat in bright, warm area. Maintain 64-75F soil temperature until germination 5-15 days. Transplant to 3″ containers of compost when first set of true leaves. Keep warm in bright area. Harden off for 1 week before planting out in full sun 20″ apart from late May to June or 2L pots to warm house
Outdoors: Transplant recommended. For long growing season, direct sow 2 weeks before last frost. 18-34″ apart in rows 3′ apart. Keep slightly moist. Water regularly but sparingly once fruit sets
