Type: Perennial, Evergreen shrub/tree
Bloom: June, followed by small fruits which turn black
Flower: Scented cream flowers on 6-8″ long slender racemes
Height: 10-20′ tall x 5-20′ wide. Multi-trunk 30′ tall & wide
Light: Sunny, sheltered
Soil: Ordinary, well drained with trace of lime
Moisture: Little to none. Not too dry not too moist
Zone: 4-9
Plant Out: March or April. Best in Autumn while soil is still warm. Mild winter planting can continue until March
For hedges plant out in October when 18-24″ tall. Plant same distance apart
After planting, remove 1/3 of all shoots to promote bushy growth.
Use: 15-18″ tub suitable for specimen. Train to single trunk for formal street tree
Tolerances: Heat, sun and wind tolerant
Notes: Shallow rooting. Don’t plant too deep, nor cultivate the soil around them too often or deeply
