Flower: From the top down, dense, purple, button-like flowers on 5-15″ spikes. Long dark green narrow leafs intermingled within the spiraling flower stalk
Height: 2-3.5′ tall x 1-2′ wide
Light: Sunny, Open
Soil: Moderately fertile, well drained, average, medium
P.H: 5.8-6.8
Moisture: Water freely during dry season. Likes moist but in too heavy of soil, Liatris may die in Winter
Use: Borders, cut flower, meadow, naturalizing
Tolerances: Drought & heavier soil tolerant than other Liatris species, light shade, summer heat, humidity

Liatris spicata Purple Seed Propagation
Indoors: Surface sow seeds & cover very lightly with 1/16″ soil in March to moist seed starting medium. Light required to germinate. Enclose in zip lock & leave in the freezer or put outside for for 10 days. Bring indoors, to under lights & maintain soil temperature 70F until germination. Grow on slightly cooler. Harden off & transplant to sun 20″ apart
Outdoors: Sow in late Fall
