Schizachyrum scorparis Seed Propagation
Indoors: Sow 3-4 seeds per cell 1/8″ deep 10-12 weeks before last frost. Place in zip lock bag & refrigerate for 3-6 weeks. Relocate to 70-75F & keep evenly moist for germination. When 2″ tall, thin to 1-2′ apart. Harden off before planting out
Outdoors: Direct seed in Fall, Winter or two weeks before last frost to prepared seed beds for natural stratification or 1/2″ deep in the Spring, around April when temperatures are reliably 60F. Tamp in to firm, no more than 1/8″ soil cover, keep moist for germination. Thin to required spacing
